Guardianship and Conservatorship for an adult child with special needs:
When a child turns eighteen years of age, they are considered a legal adult, and parents no longer have the authority to make decisions on behalf of their child. In cases where an adult child is unable to provide for his or her care or manage financial affairs, parents may petition the court for guardianship and/or conservatorship. This can be done as early as six months prior to a child turning eighteen.
Guardianship and Conservatorship for an aging, Ill, or injured loved one:
If an adult loses mental capacity due to an injury, illness, or age-related decline, such as dementia, they may need a court-appointed guardian to assist with living arrangements and medical decisions or a court-appointed conservator to manage their assets and pay bills. We will prepare the Court pleadings, represent you at the hearing, assist with qualification, and help you understand and fulfill your fiduciary duties.
